About Dr Lizo Godlimpi
Dr Lizo Godlimpi’s journey into medicine was shaped by resilience, purpose, and a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives. Raised in a rural village under difficult circumstances, he was the eldest child in a family that faced many challenges, including limited access to resources and a distant relationship with his father. Despite this, one constant in his life was his grandmother’s unwavering support and belief in the value of learning.
She instilled in him the idea that knowledge could open doors, even when it felt like none existed. That belief took root early and never let go. Driven by a desire to succeed, not just for himself but for his family and community, Dr Godlimpi worked hard to rewrite the story he was born into.
He discovered a genuine passion for biology and medicine as he progressed through school. Learning how the human body works—and how it can be healed—offered him more than academic satisfaction. It gave him a sense of direction during uncertain times. For him, becoming a doctor was never only about personal success; it was a calling to serve others and a way to show that your beginnings do not have to define your future.
Today, Dr Godlimpi works as a general practitioner in Durban, offering accessible, empathetic healthcare to individuals and families from all walks of life. His approach is grounded in clinical knowledge and shaped by lived experience. He understands that to help someone truly, you must listen, care, and meet them where they are.
Outside the Practice
When he is not seeing patients, Dr Godlimpi enjoys reading about various subjects— literature, history, business, personal development, and medicine. He also finds time to unwind with a round of golf when possible. At the centre of his life is a deep commitment to growing his understanding of the Gospel and sharing its message with others.
